Channeling Molly Ringwald

Doesn’t the redhead at the very top remind you of Andie in Pretty in Pink, except with a modern twist? I feel like it’s the slightly mixmatched outfit, the hair and glasses, and especially the hat! I am loving it, seeing that I love adore Molly Ringwald and the movie as well. I do believe that Thrift Candy is right…Ringwald was the early pioneer of Granny chic. I totally agree. Oh, and how hot was James Spader…mmm yum.

Booties from!

January 20, 2009

Hello my dears! I hope you all have a lovely three-day weekend!

So, if you have been reading my posts on Budget Fashion Report, then you should know all about I love their stuff, but have never ordered from there and decided it was time to put my money where my mouth is and buy something from the site. So, today I got these hot little booties for a grand total of approximately $20, shipping and tax included!newboots

And, because I was so inspired by my purchase, I decided to write about them and create two different outfits around them, along with an adorable lavender dress from

Welcome weekend!

January 9, 2009

I am so unbelievably happy it is Friday. Maybe by the time next Monday rolls around, I will start to fall back into my normal routine. I always find it so tough to come back and regulate after having a lovely two weeks off. Anyway, here are some of my favorite pictures from around the web today. Enjoy your Saturday and Sunday sweets! (And, if you are in New York, be prepared…it is supposed to snow tomorrow!)

My love, My Mackage

January 7, 2009

So, it’s nearing the end of the day and I felt like adding this little piece of eye candy for your viewing pleasure. I am pretty much obsessed with Mackage and have been ever since I first got my very own gorgeous cream coat in the winter of 2004. I have yet to buy another but endlessly peruse ebay and online stores looking for any that might be on sale. Today, I went to the their website and saw the Mackage Doddy jacket. Such a little beauty. It may not be made of wool and leather, but it sure is cute and the price tag is a little easier to digest. Don’t you just love the collar and puffed sleeves? And look at that side zipper detailing? I love me some zipper detailing

Enjoy, my friends! SPxx

Bright and shiny

January 6, 2009

Last night, as I was waiting for my friend LC to get off work, I stopped into American Apparel to kill some time. I have been eyeing their Nylon Tricot Figure Skater Dress for quite some time now and even designed an outfit around it, but had never actually tried it on…mostly because I was convinced it would look quite ridiculous on me. Well, this time around, I gave it shot. I unsheathed myself of my many winter layers and slipped on a bright magenta version of the short, slightly high-waisted shiny dress, and come to find out, was pleasantly surprised! I didn’t look like a complete freak, and the salesgirl even complimented me on how it looked! (Well, in retrospect, she was probably just doing her job, but still.) I was pleased, and think I will go purchase it this weekend. And, seeing that I am going to opt for magenta versus charcoal, I decided to go with a different look than the one I created before. I think I will play up the bright color and make it more flirty and fun!

Now tell me, what do you think of this dress? Would you ever wear it? What is your favorite flirty or sassy dress? SPxx

So tres, tres, chic

December 29, 2008

I am about to sit down for a lovely lunch—prepared by my lovely mother— with some dear family friends, but wanted to post these two outfits first.

Such an effortless coolness about her, don’t you think? I love her fingerless gloves, slouchy moto boots and fringy scarf.

My idea of a genius outfit. I love the zipper detailing on her leggings, and how she paired a girly polka dotted skirt with a structured moto leather jacket and high tops. What do you think of these two looks?

The holidays are upon us!

December 19, 2008

Previously, I had you dear readers, tell me which outfit you might wear to a holiday party. Well, tonight is the boyf’s work party and I am hoping to get all gussied up. I have decided to go with the “sweet” option and donne a strapless black dress with light pink accents. I am also bring a sweet dessert as well, so it should be very fun and festive indeed! What are you all doing for the holidays? Any fun parties or soirees? Would love to hear! SPxx

These boots were made for walking…

December 19, 2008

The other night, I went to my dear friend A’s housewarming party in Hoboken, NJ. It was lovely. Her new place that she shares with her boyfriend, is so cute and homey, with all the right touches. We all had a fabulous time and went home feeling very merry. The only glitch in the night had to do with the shoes I chose to wear to and from her house. I’ll be honest, it is quite a jaunt (totally worth it, of course!) from the train station to her actual place, on top of being 30 degrees out. And, my patent leather stilettos did me wrong within five minutes of stepping off the platform. Needless to say, my feet are still suffering. So, I think it is time I took a small break from my sky-high heels, especially in this wintry weather, and invest in some stylish and comfortable flat boots. I scanned the web for relatively affordable options and managed to pull together my favorite choices, complete with black, brown and colored knee high boots. I think next time I decide to walk 25 minutes in the freezing weather to a party, I will wisely pull on my flat shoes, tote my pumps in my purse and sleuthily switch shoes at my final destination.

Seeing that it is getting pretty chilly out there, which of these boots would you wear to keep your toes, ankles and knees warm and comfy through the winter months? SPxx

December 16, 2008

to my very first post! I still love the look of a blazer with jean cutoffs, although now it is completely inappropriate for the weather we have been having. But, maybe with some tights and riding boots I could winterize the heck out it…

Enjoy! SPxx
