Lady in red.

April 30, 2009

First off, I want to say thank you for your positive feedback regarding my new do! I am having a lot of fun with it and can style it all different ways. It looks cute brushed forward, to the side and even pinned back with a bobby pin.

Anyway, I mentioned earlier that I did a little photo shoot at Chelsea Piers. Well, here it is! The reason for it is my friend Hattie, founder of the company, Save the Date(ing), is throwing an awesome singles dating event tonight at this cool gallery in Chelsea and I needed to figure out what to wear. Hattie suggested we have a little fun and photograph my chosen outfit. I immediately opted for this red number, which is my favorite and is from Anthropologie.

I also wanted to show how you can easily dress up or dress down an outfit just by changing your accessories. So, you’ll see two different looks…one more casual and one more dressy. I decided to wear this white blazer with black flats to give the bright red dress a more casual look and then slip on some nude patent leather pumps to “chic it up” a bit. Anyway, the event is tonight at 7, and will be a tasting of single malts. Yum! So stay tuned for my report back on how it went, and if I met any cuties! This weekend is supposed to be in the mid to high 80s in Manhattan, and I am beyond excited. Are you up to anything fun? I have a little photo shoot in the park on Saturday, which I will share with you soon, and then a picnic with friends in the park on Sunday. All in all, I think it is going to be a swell couple of days. SPxx

Recap: Katy Perry, and The Daylights

April 9, 2009

meandashkatyperryMe and my roomie at The Fillmore @ Irving Plaza!

img_4258Thanks for the phots H!

My ears are still ringing and my the backs of knees are a tad sore from standing and jumping around for 4 1/2 hours, but it was well worth every second. Not only was Miss Perry incredibly funny on the mic in-between songs, but her outfits were perfectly flamboyant and her voice was beyond impressive. I must admit that going into the concert, I didn’t know very many of her songs, but I loved the ones that I did know and I thought she was adorable. And, not to worry, I have now downloaded her entire album from iTunes and will be rocking out to her all day today.

img_1127As for the band that opened the show—The Daylights—well, I fell in love. Immediately upon entering the stage and playing their first song, my friends and I were blown away. Their sound was amazing, not to mention their hipster-like, sexy-scruffy style, which was very appealing. After they were done playing, I met Ricky, who sings, plays the bass, and guitar, and he was kind enough to give me a few minutes of his time to take a quick photograph. I definitely enjoyed meeting him as well as his adorable dimples, which were coyly hidden underneath said sexy scruff. Looks like another purchase at iTunes is in my future. He also wore these rocking boots, which I never quite got to hear the whole history behind them. So, Ricky if you are reading this—finish your story, I am all ears!

All in all, a fantastic evening!

Have a great rest of your Thursday, my loves! SPxx

Katy Perry

April 8, 2009

2047670134_f430f6fb78Thanks to the efficiency of my friend H, who, very early on bought us all tickets to go see Katy Perry, I will be witnessing her in concert at Irving Plaza ce soir! I am so excited. And, as my said friend puts it, we will be shakin’ our bon bons for sure! What about you, dears, anyone else seeing the great KP in concert tonight, or soon?

P.S. Cute pics of her on flickr!

Have a devine weekend!

image603Guess who!

Ah, finally the weekend has arrived. I know, I know, I just got back from vacation, but it is hard to re-enter after being gone for a week. Especially when your arrive to a rainy and cold city. But, even if the weather decides to be fickle over the next couple days, I remain in bright spirits because two of my close friends are celebrating their birthdays this weekend! What are you all up to? Anything fun? Any of your friends having a birthday? Please share, I would love to know! SPxx

Day 5: California Dreamin’

April 3, 2009

03300918531The bliss of vacation had sadly come to an end, and the reality of leaving the sunny paradise I had so grown accustomed to, coupled with the fact that I had to leave my parents for another three months (yes, I try and see them every three months) began to sink in. So to bring a silent closure to our lovely getaway, we did what we always do when near the ocean. We took a long walk, then sat on the beach watched the sunset.

Thank you so much for reading, my dears. It has been so wonderful to share this special trip with you all. SPxx

Day 4: The Perfect Hideaway

April 2, 2009

dscn9818-pola01I look a bit sleepy and disheveled here, but nonetheless I enjoyed the sunny, yet slightly cool mornings with a hot cup of coffee. I also love my new, very favorite sweatshirt, which I picked up when we were in Coronado. It is super comfy and cozy, perfect for deck-sitting and coffee-sipping. I actually came to find the La Jolla mornings my favorite part of the day, which, if you know me, is a rarity, but for some reason, I was up at 8AM every day. I loved eating breakfast outside while enjoying the beautiful foliage and sweet smell of jasmine that graced and perfumed our deck. I was so enchanted by our little bungalow in La Jolla that I wanted to share some pretty photos with you. Scroll down to see more!

dscn9827Such beautiful flowers. They were everywhere, surrounding us with their loveliness.

Later on after a quick walk by the water, we came back to enjoy a yummy, light lunch, complete with Mom’s awesome salad, tasty turkey sandwiches and fresh fruit. Perfection.

Day 3: Meet you in La Jolla…

April 1, 2009

dscn9742-polaMy dears, I give you… my lovely Mother! This was taken right before we hopped into the car to head to La Jolla. Isn’t she so cute and stylish?!

picture-19Before I left for California and was trying to pack, I decided that I wanted to only bring a few staple items and mix and match them together. So, above are photos I gathered together to share with you some of the casual pieces I brought to wear on the trip. I must say that I got the most wear out of my basic black jersey dress, which proved to be perfect for the beach, and my trusty black blazer, which I often just threw over whatever outfit I was already wearing. It added that slight bit of warmth needed when the wind picked up, but was light enough that I didn’t feel hot or too layered while in the sun. And, I mustn’t forget my very favorite scarf…it seems to go with anything, whether it is a horizontal striped top or just a plain gray t-shirt.

Anyway, back to the vacation. So, day three was spent soaking up the last pleasures that Coronado had to offer. We visited a very cool, old Navy shipyard and then came back to  spend a few hours on the beach before finally hopping in the car to head to beautiful La Jolla! Stay tuned for more pics from the last days of our glorious trip! SPxx

Day 2: Beach day!

March 31, 2009

picture-151We awoke to another gorgeous day on the island and decided to spend most of our time on the beach reading and enjoying the sound of the waves crashing onto the sand. I finally got to try out my new striped bikini, which I was very happy with. But, once it struck 4PM, we hopped up and snagged a seaside view at one of the tables on the patio of the hotel to sip some happy hour wine and munch on appetizers. Yum. After dinner and a quick stop at our room we made our way back out onto the beach to enjoy the beautiful sunset. I got to indulge in wearing my bright white jeans with yet another striped item. This time, it was a lightweight sweater, which I paired with my go-to black blazer. As soon as I hit the sand I quickly rolled up my jeans and spent the rest of the sunset dancing around in the sand and doing cartwheels—my favorite.

Day 1: Coronado Island

March 30, 2009

dscn9627-polaIt was in the mid-70s our first day on the island—thank goodness—so I opted for a short, swingy skirt and a sheer, off-the-shoulder top (shown above). It was still fairly breezy at times, so I grabbed my favorite red, flowery head scarf that I bought years ago in Paris and used it to keep my fly-aways in place.picture-32And, here are some fun snapshots to share with you all. Our day was spent wandering around The Hotel Del Coronado, where my parents spent their honeymoon night 35 years ago, and exploring Old Town in San Diego. All in all, a lovely first day in the sun!
