My search for the perfect summer sandal…

April 24, 2009

15374705_21_bI think these would be a cute new addition to my summer wardrobe. However, I am determined to find a slightly cheaper option. Has anyone seen anything similar out there that is under $100? If so, I would love to know!

detail2Meet S. She is a friend of a friend who I recently met while out for a drink in the West Village. Isn’t her outfit so fun? I was instantly taken with it the moment she took off her coat and sat down. Pattern mixing can be tricky, but when done right, it looks so interesting and unique. Plus, don’t you love her yellow cardi? And those stacked bangles? Loving all of it!

Thanks S, for letting me take these snapshots of you almost immediately upon meeting you for the very first time. Cheers! SPxx

Get your kicks at Kmart.

Lately, with all my running around, my feet have started to get really tired and achy, and I have found that I keep going back to this pair of black slip-on sneakers that I bought from Kmart last summer. They are super comfy and look cute with most everything. So, the other day, while sloshing about in the rain in my trusty Hunters, I decided it was time to stock up on a few more pairs of my other trusty shoe. Best part? Not only did I get two new colors, but they are only $8 each! Sadly, I wasn’t able to find them online, but to purchase, go to your local Kmart! Happy Wednesday! SPxx

Wish List: Sweet finds at Santoki Vintage

April 21, 2009

Santoki Vintage continues to remain one of my favorite vintage stores on Etsy. Remember all of these hot little items, and these buttery leather flats? Well, I was bittersweetly reminded of this fact today as I perused one lovely dress after another, and drooled over many pairs of polished leather boots. Such great finds and everything always looks in great condition, plus the prices are affordable as well!

I think this boyfriend blazer paired with this flowery dress and these lace-up granny boots would create an interesting dynamic when worn all together. The no-nonense style of the jacket and shoes would balance out the bold, floral print of the dress, creating a funky yet still very feminine look. I am also digging these gorgeous riding boots, and this pretty striped jumper!

Cute.

3444037017_fcb53d6dc8_oAfter this weekend’s lovely weather, I am not too thrilled about today’s rain. So, what better way to battle a dreary forecast than with fun galoshes?! I am loving Jessica’s green rain boots!

What are you up to this weekend? It is supposed to be 73 degrees here in Manhattan, so I will be at Central Park soaking up sun while playing with my best friend Allison‘s new puppy, Frankie! And speaking of warm weather and playing outside, aren’t these photos so pretty? My friend, Anna Sweet, who is an amazing photographer, took these great shots of her best friend, Candice. I loved them so much that I decided to order myself some prints and frame them. This way I will be able to enjoy the beautiful, yet fleeting cherry blossoms of spring, all year round.

Enjoy your weekend, and always, thanks so much for reading!

Hugs, SPxx

P.S. This is Frankie, and so there is no confusion…she is girl.

The incredible Garance Dore.

As I was perusing all my favorite blogs, I came across these incredible shots from The Sartorialist and Garance Dore, which I just had to share with you. I have loved menswear for quite some time and it seems now, more than ever,  this is its time to be in the spotlight. I think what I love the most is the slightly androgynous look that comes out of a woman wearing men’s clothing. It is such a unique challenge, to pull it off in a way that you still look sexy and like a woman versus just a woman in a man’s clothes. It sounds contradictory, and it is very tricky. However, when done well, the results are pretty fantastic.

The last image is of Garance herself, in an articule that Refinery 29 did on her, regarding street style. The photos of her are amazing. To see more, check it out here!

What do you think of menswear on women? Do you think it is sexy o do you prefer more feminine accents, like ruffles and bows? Do share, I would love to know your thoughts! SPxx

n500011393_734550_12671Me at my best friend’s wedding in Hawaii.

I was chatting with my friend S today and she was telling me about her best friend’s wedding she is attending in Mexico. Her question was whether or not this dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs was appropriate or “good enough” to wear to the ceremony. I told her I think it will work perfectly and is a lovely choice for the occasion. I love anything with a ruffle, and the color reminded me of the dress I wore to my best friend’s wedding last March. What do you think of the Marc Jacob’s dress? Are you a fan of ruffles or are you still on the fence? Do tell, I would love to know!

Street Style: Lace, and Cherry Blossoms

April 16, 2009

streetstyle-lacecherryblossomsHello hello! Sorry for the delay in posts…I am currently working on transferring all my material over to my new domain/site, which I will unveil shortly! So, today on my way back from yoga, I was walking behind this adorable girl. I instantly noticed her white lace slip against her black tights, and as she walked under the blossoming cherry trees, I was taken with how her lace, and the white petals resembled each other so beautifully. I ran up behind her, probably freaking her out in the process, and asked to take a photo. This is what I came up with. Lovely, don’t you think? Do you have cherry blossom trees where you live? How do you feel about slips as dresses? SPxx
