Get the look: Stylin’ in stripes

April 27, 2009

picture-101Remember my friend Amanda with the super cool nerd chic glasses? Well, she is back and looking fabulous as usual. She has this knack to pull together outfits so effortlessly—never looks like she is trying too hard, but yet always manages to wow me with her creations. This ensemble is one of her simpler, laid back looks, but it is just as cute. I am a huge fan of stripes and I love the combination of gray and red together. Add a simple bangle, and either a pair of casual converse or dressier wedges and you are set to go. Plus, don’t you love that each item is $30 and under? Cute and recession-friendly! What’s better than that?!

img_1320Saturday was my dear friend N’s birthday party and the theme was 1970’s. I am loving N’s dress—doesn’t she look so pretty on her special day? Even though we didn’t exactly go all out with costumes, we did opt for bright, loud florals and bold prints. In a rush to find something to wear, I skimmed F21 earlier in the day and found this dress for only $25, which is now my new favorite spring/summer maxi. To rev up the 70’s vibe, I wore lots of gold bracelets and rings, parted my hair down the middle, slipped into a pair of wooden platforms and I was ready to roll. All in all, a really fun party! What did you all do this weekend? Do tell! I would love to know! SPxx

My search for the perfect summer sandal…

April 24, 2009

15374705_21_bI think these would be a cute new addition to my summer wardrobe. However, I am determined to find a slightly cheaper option. Has anyone seen anything similar out there that is under $100? If so, I would love to know!

Suiting up in stripes.

Hi hi! Guess what I bought today?! Yep, you’re looking at it! My very own striped bikini—and and you know how I love me some stripes—found at H&M, which I will promptly be putting on the minute I hit the beach in San Diego later this week. I can not wait. I am leaving Thursday afternoon to go meet up with my parents and we are going to celebrate my Dad turning 60 and my parents 35th anniversary! Anyway, I was so inspired by my lovely purchase that I created a beach-friendly outfit around it…click here to see! (Disclaimer…Sadly I was not able to find my suit online, but luckily Top Shop had a similar one!) Happy Tuesday! SPxx

Good Day, My Sunshines!

March 10, 2009

This morning, I woke up without much of a fight—both surprising and rare for me—took my time making coffee, getting my lunch ready and putting my outfit together. I got to work right on time and continued on with my morning ritual. This consists of sitting at my computer, drinking my coffee and briefly checking my gmail and favorite blogs. As I clicked open Glamour’s blog, Smitten,  I was so excited to see a brand new post about three cute spring date outfits, and was absolutely taken by the top below. Made by Church & State, the North Dakota blouse has a detachable ruffle bib, which are very in right now, AND it’s on sale! SPxx

What a great start to my day, thanks Joanna!picture-1

This gorgeous sweater by APC–available at Creatures of Comfort— is a tad out of my price range, seeing that it is $223, but I am still allowed to dream and covet, right? Sigh. I have been trying to find a more affordable version elsewhere, yet am still searching, so if you have any leads shoot them my way! SPxx

Two things I look for in jewelry…simplicity, and humor. Prismera has the elegant details and slight texture that I love to find in bracelets and earrings, and Emily Elizabeth Jewelry keeps it light and fun with her necklace designs. Don’t you get a kick out of the saltine cracker? I am also loving these pieces—spotted on A Cup of Jo—by Blanca Monros Gomez. SPxx

Obsessed with: Ramona West and Dear Golden

February 25, 2009

My friend R of the blog, Lex and the City, recently told me about this cool Etsy shop called Ramona West. I checked it out and instantly fell in love. Then, while perusing my friend Joanna’s blog, Cup of Jo, I saw an Etsy shop on her site that looked neat called Dear Golden. Again, hook, line and sinker. Love at first sight. So much so, that I an picked some more favorite pieces and put together an outfit, which I posted today on Budget Fashion Report. The two online boutique have really different styles and pieces, but are really inspiring and fun to browse through and shop. Here are a few of my favorite items from both. Enjoy!
