The incredible Garance Dore.

As I was perusing all my favorite blogs, I came across these incredible shots from The Sartorialist and Garance Dore, which I just had to share with you. I have loved menswear for quite some time and it seems now, more than ever,  this is its time to be in the spotlight. I think what I love the most is the slightly androgynous look that comes out of a woman wearing men’s clothing. It is such a unique challenge, to pull it off in a way that you still look sexy and like a woman versus just a woman in a man’s clothes. It sounds contradictory, and it is very tricky. However, when done well, the results are pretty fantastic.

The last image is of Garance herself, in an articule that Refinery 29 did on her, regarding street style. The photos of her are amazing. To see more, check it out here!

What do you think of menswear on women? Do you think it is sexy o do you prefer more feminine accents, like ruffles and bows? Do share, I would love to know your thoughts! SPxx

A pretty little pick-me-up.

For some reason, I was so sure it was Thursday today. And, when I  realized—um, about an hour ago—that no, it was in fact only Wednesday…well you can imagine my disappointment. Sigh. Friday feels so far away. So, to feel better, I went to one of my happy places—Garance Dore being one of them—and promptly found this lovely photo, which totally lifted my spirits. The yellow is so happy looking, on top of being one of my favorite colors, and I am loving that sash across her shoulders. So, being that it is WEDNESDAY, I will wish you all a Happy Hump Day, my loves! SPxx

My oh my, that Alexa Chung and her style! Pretty amazing in my book. I am really digging the look she’s got going on here. The jacket and the striped sweater are my favorite pieces, and I also love the little socks. I just posted about little ruffly ones on BFR and have decided that my goal for spring is to pull this look off as much as can once it gets warmer. What do you think of her look? And, what do you think of little socks, heels and bare legs? SPxx

Parisian pretty on Cupcakes and Cashmere

Joanna from A Cup of Jo recently wrote a post about how to dress like a Parisian woman. She even interviewed Garance Dore, the amazing Parisian street-style photographer. I must say, Emily from Cupcakes and Cashmere nails it here with her awesome blue and white top. I love everything about her look. The stripes, the shirt, the nails, the purse, the shoes, and of course the headband. So cute. But, how does she get it to stay put on her head? I recently just bought one like this but it makes my hair poof up—ridiculously so—on either side! Oh well, guess I will just keep fiddling with it!

It’s a wrap.

Isn’t this a great look? The addition of the scarf wrapped around the outside of this monochromatic, slightly manly looking jacket, gives it just the flair it needs to become more interesting and unique. I have a couple jackets with waist ties and think that tomorrow I will experiment with a scarf wrapped round the outide of a basic jacket. My favorite part: How the ends of the scarf are tucked neating into the belt. So ingenious. What do you think of this look, dear readers? Spxx

Amazing.

Welcome weekend!

January 9, 2009

I am so unbelievably happy it is Friday. Maybe by the time next Monday rolls around, I will start to fall back into my normal routine. I always find it so tough to come back and regulate after having a lovely two weeks off. Anyway, here are some of my favorite pictures from around the web today. Enjoy your Saturday and Sunday sweets! (And, if you are in New York, be prepared…it is supposed to snow tomorrow!)

Seems like the fashion Gods are trying to tell me that I need to buy a leather (or pleather) skirt immediately. They seem to be everywhere I look! Remember this darling girl? And, this cool vintage version? Plus, check out what these hip chicks are wearing, posted on the awesome blog, Love, Life and a Double Latte. Enjoy! SPxx
